Our Icons Explained

These days more and more people are seeking specialist diets - and our aim is to cater for all whilst not compromising on taste.

Impossible you say? We dare you:

So, in order for you to know your way around the lounge and our offerings we have come up with a range of tasty icons - so here is what they mean:

Image vegan - all the food is dairy-free and egg-free - drinks are too, except that we serve cow's milk for your teas and coffees (due to customers' requests) - we don't tend to shout about the vegan thing as a large proportion of our customers eat mainstream diets, but we are kind of proud about the fact that no animals suffered on behalf of our food, the environment is happier and your health is beaming (and that often people don't even realise they have food free from these products!)

Image wheat free - whether you are a celiac or not - most people could do from eating less wheat products - check out our scrumptious selection of wheat free cakes, truffles or even our wheat free lasagne

Image gluten free - what's the difference to above? well, some people have an allergic reaction to wheat only, however if you have a gluten intolerance you have to be careful with a lot more than just wheat. You find gluten in rye, somolina, couscous, soya sauce, spelt, and a whole list of processed foods. That's why we mostly sell rice or quinoa to go with your curry - we even have a selection of really yummy gluten free cakes

Image cholesterol free - a hot topic these days so you will be impressed to hear that all of our food is cholesterol free. All cholesterol is a result of animal fats in foods - hence our vegan choices help you keep your levels in check - in fact the flax seeds we use are said to lower cholesterol levels

Image contains nuts - as we don't want you to have a reaction to our products (other than a positive one) we will always warn you when we put nuts into our concoctions - like our ice cream! If you are really plagued by strong reactions then please be aware that there is no way of guaranteeing an entirely nut free dish as there is always the risk of cross contamination

Image low GI - glycemic index - relates to the rate at which foods we eat are converted into glucose - blood sugar. The higher the index the faster the conversion, the quicker you get energy but the faster you fall as well. As you will know from a sugar rush - it only lasts so long! So that's why we promote sugars and foods that have slow releasing qualities - balanced energy for longer!

Image sugar free - even better than low GI is sugar free of course - but that doesn't mean it can't be sweet - when we say sugar we normally refer to cane sugar or any other commercial sugar with a high GI - we use Agave, Xylitol, Lukuma, Honey or Maple Syrup in many of our products.

Image optimum choice - yep its RAW - as nature made it - never heated above 42degrees - this preserves enzymes and nutrients to give you an extra shot of vitality for a better life! There is a whole movement out there that follows this life food philosophy - we are keen to give you a taster of this nutritional school - so come try one of our sunfood burgers or raw cakes!

Image soya free - soya was once believed to be the vegetarian's saviour - but in many people's eyes has turned out to be an environmentally hazardous and possibly unhealthy choice - so we don't put it in all of our products and give you a choice by showing you what contains what

so go ahead and try some of what we have to offer
