Our Creative Contribution
Life is an incredible journey - and often when you think back the most fulfilling times you will remember are those when you have been in the midst of your own creative flow. Maybe it is the fact that being creative allows us to switch of from our predominant left bain domination, our mind obsession. Our society these days does not endorse rituals of dance and music as it was customary many years ago. We are thrust into the whirlpool of life without every having been able to connect deeply to this life giving force - so its time to claim it back - and make positive use of it.
At inSpiral we believe that despite the fact that we seem to be living in overwhelmingly challenging times its all about having fun whilst saving the world. What's the point in creating a 'new world paradigm' when that is build on notions of negativity, rejection and judgement. We need to move forward into a world of positivity, acceptance and joy.
Creativity in the House
As you will see on our website we have a phenomenal wealth of talent on offer in the lounge, with performances ranging from singer songwriters to electronic producers, from poets to dancers, from full on live bands to cutting edge DJs. We host events nearly every night of the week and often have two events taking place at the same time - like a workshop downstairs and a music event upstairs. Its amazing how much diversity we can cram into a space as small as the lounge!
In a world where much of the music we are exposed to talks about money, power and sex, InSpiral makes a strong counter point by featuring a distinctly gentle and positive musical genre – ambient & global music. This wide and hugely creative genre lays the soothing background to what aims to be a social hotspot of communication and ideas exchange. Rather than creating a dance club our focus is on people experiencing people – set against a thought-inspiring ambience.
Special emphasis is placed on the showcasing of new talent; especially artists who make it their business to push the boundaries of style and content. The InSpiral music policy runs the gamut of styles from Dub, World Groove and Ambient, through newer expanding areas such as Glitch-Hop, Electronica, Ethno-Dubstep, Minimal, IDM and Folktronica, to name but a few!
Much of our musical menu can also be heard in our online radio station where we are streaming predominantly music we stock in our diverse online music shop . We are soon going to go one step further by launching the inSpiral radio show! A long awaited step towards spreading the inSpiral vibe world wide!
Beyond music we also host a variety of talks and workshops - covering areas such as the benefits of raw food through to political debates about codex alimentarius and other scary things. From time to time we feature films, often showcased by the directors themselves. Such as 'The Lifeline Project ' - presented by Phil Stebbings or 'The Age of Stupid ' - presented by Franny Armstrong.
With our background in festival culture we still now hold a strong presence within the UK festival culture, with regular stages at events such as Glastonbury, Glade Festival, Sunrise Gathering, Big Chill and Electric Picnic - to name but a few.
The Future:
We are currently working hard on reinventing our website - edition 1.2 will be launched very soon. With that we will create an increasingly busy site that people will frequent to get info on health, nutrution and environmental facts. We will also develop the entire e-commerce aspect as we became a destination for those of you who had enough of mainstream products out there!
The radio shows we host will also become increasingly popular and will be listened to by people from all around the world.
With the expansion of the inSpiral project we will create more hotspots of self expression, facilitating access for pros and startups to give it all in the name of the bigger picture. We will have the capacity to support individual artists on their journey.
We are also working towards an inSpiral festival a few years down the line - an entirely eco driven feast of conscious creativity and expression - this one is going to be soo good!
Ultimately we feel that the media should drop the pretense and start embracing real artists with a message from deep within. How much more bling can we really handle???
