Press
Perched beside Camden Lock, with views overlooking the colourful avenues of Camden Market there’s a new venue that’s breaking all the rules about what a vegetarian café should be. inSpiral Lounge is a brave new enterprise for a changing world, where cutting-edge vegetarian cuisine, visionary vegan cakes, superfoods, and organic cocktails rub shoulders with London’s alternate party culture and the underground music scene. After only two years in business, inSpiral is becoming one of Camden’s favourite destinations, attracting locals and tourists alike with its quirky décor, sublime vegan fare, canal views and non-stop program of late-night musical entertainment. In 2009 inSpiral went from strength to strength, attracting praise from all corners of society for its unique and daring approach to food, music and social change. Adding to its reputation in 2008 as one of the UK’s 10 Best Vegetarian Restaurants (Vegetarian Society), in 2009 inSpiral received 2 prestigious...
inSpiral is an ambitious multi-faceted enterprise, comprising of: •    inSpiral lounge (vegetarian café and music venue) •    outSpiral (conscious catering) •    inSpiral radio (tune in on our website) •    inSpiral eye (online community newsletter) •    inSpiral online music shop (ambient delicacies) •    inSpiral online product shop (superfoods, elixirs, raw cakes and more…) •    inSpiral trust (charity organisation) •    inSpiral festival stage (chillout and community café) The expansive reach of inSpiral’s activities is represented by the image of the cosmic tree which can be seen on our website and other promotional material. Like the tree, inSpiral sends out its branches in many directions seeking light, while at the same time keeping its roots firmly planted in the soil of its founding principle; the belief that each and every one of us can contribute in a meaningful way to a better future for us all. The various branches of...
The inSpiral philosophy is underpinned by 4 pillars of wisdom: nutrition environment community creativity
As a certified 100% pure vegetarian cafe, inSpiral guarantees that all our products, excepting hot drinks (some of which contain cow’s milk), are 100% free of animal products and derivatives. We believe that eating a meat-free diet is the easiest way to obtain optimal health and the most meaningful way to reduce human impact on the environment. By ensuring that all our food and beverages are free from genetically modified organisims (GMOs), cruelty free (subject to no animal testing) and predominantly organic, we ensure that we are doing our utmost to contribute to a more just and sustainable world. The inSpiral menu meets the dietary needs of a diverse range of people whose food preferences and requirements are often neglected by conventional fast-food chains and gourmet restaurants. Our seasonally-changing menu, consisting of vegan haute cuisine, crunchy salads, smoothies, juices, vegan cakes, vagan ice cream and confections are all prepared on-site by specially trained chefs...
We are deeply passionate about the environment and the positive role we can all play to keep this planet in health and harmony. At inSpiral Lounge we: •    are entirely powered by alternative renewable energy •    recycle nearly all our waste •    package all or our products in eco packaging •    promote environmental awareness through our website and online newsletter •    use seasonal produce and support local growers to reduce carbon miles •    support organic and fairtrade products where possible •    encourage staff members to live locally and cycle to work In 2009 some of our favourite environmental charities were Trees for Cities and Ecological Internet. In addition to supporting the work of reputable charities and NGOs inSpiral maintains its own charitable branch of operations, inSpiral Trust, which campaigns for positive changes in the areas of health, environment, sustainability, human rights and social justice. 2% of profits from all...
inSpiral is renowned as THE place in North London to meet and greet. In a city that can seem at times unwholesome, alienating and de-personalising, inSpiral is a safe-haven where people are aknowledged with a smile and are known by name. The barrier beween staff, musician, friend and customer, are permeable and come down alltogether on a regular basis. Social Sundays are our weekly open mic night  and are a great way to meet people and become known. Even Dominik, our fearless director, has been known to play a tune, and despite the demands of a hectic workload, still takes regular shifts behind the bar in order to stay in touch with our customers and rally the team. The conversations begun in the Lounge are continued within the spaces of our website, in particular the Forum and Community pages. Midway through 2009 we decided that a free fortnightly online newsletter would be the best way to service the needs of our expanding customer-base and since then have been thinking up new...
inSpiral Lounge’s program of evening and late-night events provide a focal point around which members of the inSpiral community cohere. Open-mic nights, Bhajan chanting, dub nights, DJs, workshops, panel discussions and charity film screenings attract their own following; overall, making for a mixed clientele of tourists, day-trippers, activists, alternative therapists, students, musicians, professionals and families. inSpiral Radio provides a digital gateway to the live events at inSpiral Lounge and is rapidly becoming a 24/7 source of music, information and inspiration. There is a strong culture of visual entertainment at inSpiral, with the walls of our café doubling as a gallery space for local artists. Exhibitions and installations jostle for wall-space with more dynamic artworks, such as video montages and oil canon projections. Live performances by VJs are frequently combined with live music performance, turning the spaces of our café into a  kaleidoscopic canvas for...
